Photo Update – February 2011

STX Europe, Finland.  With all the excitement and media attention surrounding the arrival of the Spirit of Britain, it’s easy to forget that back in Finland her sister ship, the Spirit of France, is coming along nicely.

These latest pictures show the Spirit of France now complete with funnel and with her enormous propellers in place.

The funnel section of the Spirit of France is lifted into position

The dock workers really add a sense of scale to this picture of the main propellers

Sailed on the Spirit of Britain recently and was overall very impressed with the vessel. Certainly she is very well designed and the layout is attractive and effective, if a little lacking in character. The food was pretty good in the Food Court although the queues were a little long, considering it was not that busy a sailing.

As a very loyal supporter of P&O, I received a complimentary ticket at the Caravan Show at the NEC Birmingham last year thanks to the generosity of P&O having purchased a brand new Commander Coachman caravan.
We will be sailing on the PRIDE OF BRITAIN in May and I am very proud that P&O have named this vessel after a great Country and Nation

What will be the differences between Spirit of Britain and Spirit of France? Will it be mainly the decor?

    • P&O Ferries Admin says:

Hi John, The decor of the two ships will be very similar. However, the Spirit of Britain does have a very strong ‘British’ theme running through the onboard artwork and murals – you can expect this to follow a ‘French’ theme for the Spirit of France.

  • JEAN-MARIE FLORIN says:

As a Frenchman, I feel very proud to have a ship called ‘SPIRIT OF FRANCE’ and hope I will be able to travel on her very first trip from Calais to Dover as I did on the’SPIRIT OF BRITAIN’ on 21st January!
